Job Title: Data Science / Machine Learning Internship - Summer 2025

Compensation: $25-$35 / hr

Position Summary: As a Data Science / Machine Learning Intern at TerraCity, you will contribute to the machine learning and artificial intelligence that powers our cutting-edge urban planning software products. You’ll work on impactful projects that directly influence how cities are planned and developed, aligning with our mission to empower safe, sustainable cities and contribute to a net-zero economy. During your internship, you will gain hands-on experience in developing production-quality software using modern tools and industry best practices. You’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with passionate engineers in a fast-paced startup environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and optimization of data ingestion pipelines.

  • Support the development and implementation of machine learning models.

  • Help monitor and evaluate model performance, providing feedback and contributing to improvements.

  • Collaborate with team members to provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Foundational knowledge in data science or machine learning, with coursework or project experience in these areas.

  • Basic understanding of building and optimizing data pipelines.

  • Familiarity with Python.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and version control systems (e.g., Git).

  • Knowledge of key data science concepts such as model evaluation and MLOps.

  • Interest in transportation modeling or behavioral data analysis.

  • Exposure to machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data processing tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
